Wielkopolska Region Brussels Office invites you to join the debate: “Every Drop Counts – Regions on the Front Line of Building Water Resilience.” The debate is a part of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2026 in Brussels – the largest event for local and regional authorities organised by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions.
The debate will take place on 14 October 2026, from 16:00 to 17:30, at Copper Hall at the Square Brussels Convention Centre. It will be held in English and it is free of charge. Registration is available via the official #EURegionsWeek website and requires an EU Login.
Building resilience to water scarcity and effectively adapting to climate change require ambitious action and strong political commitment at the appropriate level. The debate will provide an opportunity to discuss solutions that can help regions prepare for the impacts of climate change, as well as to exchange experiences on practical measures being implemented in different parts of Europe. The discussion will focus on water retention, improving the quality and availability of water resources, adapting agriculture to climate change and preparing for water-related risks.
Wielkopolska will be represented by Marzena Andrzejewska-Wierzbicka, Director of the Department of Environmental Management and Climate at the Wielkopolska Regional Authority.
The event is a joint initiative of the Wielkopolska Region and the regions of South Moravia, Emilia-Romagna, Murcia, the Balearic Islands, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Lower Austria and Carinthia. All of these regions are members of the Alliance for Water Resilience and Climate Change Preparedness, launched in March 2026. The initiative currently brings together 24 regions from 9 countries with an aim to strengthen regional resilience to water-related challenges, exchange experiences and promote effective solutions supporting adaptation to climate change.
