Biuro Wielkopolski w Brukseli Wielkopolska BXL

iza-panel.ekspertw.jpgThe European Commission has acknowledged Wielkopolska's initiative and involvement in the preparation for the implementation, in EU regions and member states, of JEREMIE financial instrument, seeking to support business development. The Commission invited our representative to join the panel of experts at the conference entitled: "Better regional access to finance for small and medium enterprises: JEREMIE", held at Borschette Centre, Brussels, as part of Open Days 2008 event, on 8 October. Izabela Gorczyca, employee of the Wielkopolska Office in Brussels, presented there the conclusions from the workshop on  JEREMIE, organised by Wielkopolska in  June this year.

The June workshop "JEREMIE - regional and national experience at the preparatory stage" was attended by over 60 experts from ministries and regional development agencies of 13 states and 9 regions interested in the initiative, as well as by representatives of the European Commission and the European Investment Fund. At the seminar held as part of Open Days, Izabela Gorczyca discussed the various operational models for JEREMIE in European states and regions, as well as problems that they face when implementing this complex initiative. She also offered a number of practical suggestions for the institutions working with this financial instrument. She also underscored the need to exchange experience and good practices on financial engineering, which may be of paramount importance for the improvement and acceleration of JEREMIE implementation actions. Importantly, all speeches by representatives of the member regions and states delivered at borschette-seminarium1.jpg previous meetings and conferences on JEREMIE usually focused on presenting their own progress with the implementation of this financial instrument. Wielkopolska was the first to take the floor not only on its own behalf, but rather as a representative of all stakeholders. The presentation (attached) was praised by the experts of both the European Commission and the attendees to the seminar.
Members of the seminar's panel of experts were also: Head of JEREMIE Department at the European Investment Fund Marc Schublin, Secretary General at the Greek Ministry of Economy and Finance Panagiotis Drossos, Undersecretary of State at the Latvian Ministry of Economy Andris Liepins, Nick Moon of the Welsh Development Agency as well as representatives of financial instruments units of the European Commission's Directorate General. The workshop was attended by approx. 100 persons. For more photos from the Commission's seminar go to Gallery.
