17.jpgOn Tuesday evening the 27 November 2007, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Voivodship, Mr. Marek Woźniak together with the Polish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Sławomir Czarlewski have festively opened the ceremony of establishing the Brussels Club of Wielkopolska Region.   Beside the Marshal and Ambassador, the meeting was attended also by the Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mr. Jan Tombiński, the Deputy Mayor of Poznań, Mr. Jerzy Stępień, Vice President of the European Parliament, Mr. Marek Siwiec and Members of the European Parliament: Mr. Filip Kaczmarek, Mr. Tadeusz Masiel and Mr. Tadeusz Zwiefka. Also present were enterpreneurs from Wielkopolska running business on the teritorry of Belgium and numerous young people of Wielkopolska origin employed in EU institutions.  After this first and a very fruitful meeting, taking place in the Polish Embassy in Brussles, the Club of Wielkopolska Region gained approx. 50 new, enthusiastic members!Mr. Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Voivodship emphasised that the activities of the Club should focus on lobbing for the Wielkopolska region as well as on joint undertakings enhancing the role of Wielkopolska among other European regions. Marshal wished also all people of Wielkopolska origin visiting the Club to feel there at home. This initiative has been regarded very valuable by the Deputy Mayor of Poznań, Mr. Jerzy Stępień who declared the support of the city of Poznań being provided to this undertaking. The leading topic of the first meeting was the possibility of establishing the first flight connection between Poznań and Brussels. All people of Wielkopolska living in Brussels are lively interseted in this matter. The meetings of Brussles Club of Wielkopolska Region are open for every inhabitant of Wielkopolska and are planned to be held once three months in the Brussles Office of the Wielkopolska Region. There is no need for enrollment, fees or any official confirmation of a membership. The participants of the first meeting declared to maintain the contact not only by individual meetings but also via the internet forum. The Honourable Membership of the Brussels Club of Wielkopolska Region was accepted by Mr. Sławomir Czarlewski, Polish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Belgium and by Mr.Jan Tombiński, Polish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the EU.
