KobusArt_IMG_5054.jpg‘I would like to thank you for the work for the Polish regions in the European Union and for your active involvement not only on the EU forum, but also within the scope of Polish-Belgian relations. There are many positive examples of common activities in our bilateral cooperation. However, there is still much to be done’ – said President Bronisław Komorowski during the meeting with the representatives of Polish regions in Brussels on 13th November 2012. The meeting was a part of a two-day visit of our head of state in the Kingdom of Belgium. The visit consisted, among others, of a meeting with the Belgian Royal Couple, talks with the President of the European Council and Belgian businessmen.

The Secretary General of the Committee of the Regions, Gerhard Stahl, expressed his thanks to the respresentatives of Polish local and regional authorities for their work in support of strong cohesion policy, which fosters economic growth and creation of new jobs in Europe. He also emphasized that the Poles have been strongly involved in developing the future budget for the EU. ‘The Polish delegation is one of the most active ones in the Committee of the Regions. I would like to thank you - the representatives of regions and cities in Brussels for supporting actions of your politicians and for strenghtening the voice of European local and regional governments in the dialogue with the UE institutions.’

KobusArt_IMG_4777.jpgMonika Kapturska, Director of Wielkopolska Region Brussels Office, chairing the meeting on behalf of all Polish regional offices, highlighted the tasks performed by the offices in relations with the European institutions and initiating cooperation with partners from the whole Europe as there are over 300 representatives of regional and local authorities in Brussels. She also described the scope and examples of cooperation between Polish local and regional governments and Belgian regions: Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels-Capital in the fields of economy, science and culture, as well as in the European regional networks. Today, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland, we would like to thank all the representatives of Belgian local and regional authorities, cultural and business institutions, as well as our colleagues who represent European regions and EU institutions, for their support and cooperation to date. We do believe that our joint initiatives in the future will continue with even more effort and we will achieve excellent results supporting the development of our regions.

Representatives of many European regions, UE institutions, as well as Belgian partners participated in the meeting with President Komorowski. It took place in the East Poland House, which was yesterday a symbolic seat of all sixteen Polish regional offices in the capital of the European Union.
