Wielkopolska Region Information Office – who are we?
 The Representative Office of Wielkopolska in Brussels has been existing since 2003. It is a subordinate of the Marshal’s Office of Wielkopolska Region, functioning within structures related to regional development, foreign cooperation and acquisition of funds. At present Wielkopolska Region Information Office employs three persons who are supported by apprentices and local government officials from Wielkopolska.
The office in its present shape is one of the most numerous Polish regional representation offices. The seat is located in the vicinity of the beautiful Cinquantenaire Park in a spacious, historical tenement house where other European regions have their representative offices, too: German Hesse, French Aquitaine and Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It was thanks to the co-operation and amicable relations with the Hessian partner, that the foundation of the representation office of Wielkopolska at the European Union has become a fact. The strategic location of the common seat in the European district and the vicinity of the most important EU institutions facilitate the access to information and promotion of Wielkopolska region “at the source”- in the very heart of the European Union.
Our tasks
The main task of Wielkopolska Region Information Office is searching for information important for the development of the region and passing it to Wielkopolska. The employees of the office gather information on new legal regulations and concepts of the EU authorities concerning regional politics through participation in all important meetings, conferences and seminars and monitoring of messages issued by the EU institutions. Moreover, the activity of the office covers a wide scope of task which are mainly related to three fields: funds and community programs, promotion of the region in the capital of EU and cooperation with the European partners. The Wielkopolska Office organizes meetings and events promoting Wielkopolska in Brussels and in Europe by its own or in cooperation with other regions. Besides, our representation office represents the interests of the region in the EU and submits its postulates to the European institutions (lobbying), supporting with the same the execution of the aims set out in the development strategy. Wielkopolska Region Information Office also supports the development of regional economy through consulting services for the local entrepreneurs who would like to obtain information concerning the current EU requirements, promotion of the Wielkopolska's economic potential abroad and help in establishing business contacts with foreign partners. It all happens in close cooperation with the Wielkopolska and Belgian chambers of industry and commerce and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of Belgium. The Wielkopolska Office cooperates tightly with its partner regions and other EU regions whose representation offices are located in Brussels through building the system of net connections. Continuous information exchange, organisation of meetings of working groups dealing with specific projects and common lobbying for the regional interests are the signs of the cooperation. Wielkopolska Region Information Office supports also the activity of representatives of the region in the EU institutions, in particular in the EU Regions’ Committee, cooperates with the Wielkopolska's deputies of the European Parliament and the Representation Office of the Republic of Poland at the European Union and the Polish Chamber of Tourism.
